GOD’S KINGDOM SHALL STAND FOR EVER
Empire building has been men’s vain dream from the days of Nimrod (a great-grandson of Noah) who “began to be a mighty one in the earth” (Gen 10:8-10) and built himself a kingdom. Men’s kingdoms come and go, none of them lasts forever, even as men also are of few days. Do not boast that you can build your kingdom on earth. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Hitler boasted that his regime would last 1,000 years. God finished it in ten. “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west… but God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another” (Ps 75:6-7).
Today, the world is carved up into almost 200 separate states, each with its own government. From every aspect of God’s Word, it is evident that the existing world order must shortly come to an end. Rebellious men directing the world’s affairs without God are simply heading for self-extinction. But men’s days are numbered. Our God who removeth kings (Dan 2:21) will shortly conclude the present world order. “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Eccles 3:1). God’s judgment is on the way.
This is the urgent message for today. He that hath ears, let him hear! The King from Heaven is coming to set up His magnificent everlasting kingdom. Man has no future except in this coming Kingdom of God. To ignore its coming is the height of folly. Recall the words of our Lord’s prayer: “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come” (Matt 6:9-10).
Did you ever pause to think as you recited those words, that one day soon that prayer will be answered? If you are concerned for your future and eternal destiny, think! God’s Kingdom will come and you may have a part in it.
THOUGHT: The vital question is: do you belong to God’s Kingdom?
PRAYER: Thy Kingdom come! Father, save me for Thy Kingdom!
