AUTHENTICATIONS OF FAITH
 
In these days of deception, every Bible-believing Christian must be watchful and prayerful and be discerning of false believers. Satan’s attacks against the church may take many forms. The Lord, however, will reveal and expose those who are not truly His, those who are impostors. We thank the Lord for His promise that the elect shall not be deluded to believe a lie, but that the Lord will keep them from being deceived.
 
Special miracles: The Lord authenticated Paul’s divine appointment through special miracles. Diseases were healed and evil spirits fled by God’s power. There were also false believers, however, who presumptuously assumed power to cast out demons using Jesus’ name. Instead, they were overpowered by the devil. This caused many to fear Jesus’ name!
 
Spiritual manifestations: Many who practised magical arts confessed their wickedness. They voluntarily brought those scrolls which they used. This was a true manifestation of their regeneration in Christ. They surrendered everything from their dark past. The amount is estimated to be fifty thousand days’ wages or it would require over 150 people working a full year to equal the financial value of those scrolls! (Arnold)
 
I remember the time my wife and I came to truly believe in the Jesus Christ of the Bible. We had to take out all our rosaries, prayer booklets, charismatic CD’s of contemporary Christian music (CCM) and many others to throw them into the rubbish bin. (No burning was allowed in the country we were in!) Of course, burning is the best way so that others may not be able to get hold of and use those items for themselves.
 
Do you still hide some memorabilia of your old religion? Do you still keep the idols and altars in your homes because they are an ancestral inheritance and are expensive possessions? Read 2 Corinthians 6:16.
 
THOUGHT: Am I clear in my conscience, having surrendered everything to God?

PRAYER: Father, convict me by Thy Spirit to give up all evil things in life.
