BIRTH OF JESUS FORETOLD!

SEPTEMBER 9, Isaiah 7:10-14

He trusted in men rather than God. Nevertheless, God wanted to give him a miraculous sign to show that God Almighty can do anything if only Judah will turn to Him and trust Him. King Ahaz refused to ask for a sign. He did not want God to confirm that He would protect Judah because he had decided to trust in the Assyrians.

The sign was the miraculous birth of a child born of a virgin. This earth-shaking event did not take place till 700 years afterwards but Isaiah saw this prophecy with sharp clarity. Furthermore, this child would be a son and He shall be called Immanuel which means “God with us”. He would indeed be the Saviour who will redeem His people.

Only God can tell the future. Only God is almighty. Let us not be like King Ahaz and rely on men, who are God’s creatures, rather than their Creator, our one living and true God.

How wonderful it is to have such a blessed event – the birth of our beloved Jesus – foretold so long ago!

It is also so reassuring to know God’s plan for us so lovingly prepared in advance. This is the greatest news that the world can ever have, that God Almighty was willing to send His Son to die for us so we may have everlasting life in heaven!

Thought: So wonderful that birth of Jesus was foretold long ago!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the birth of Christ. It is such a joyous event that even though we are in the month of September, it is not too early to thank You for Christmas! In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
