The aims of BDC are to lead the people to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and obedience unto God's Holy Word through the proclamation and teaching of the inspired, preserved, infallible and inerrant Word of God.
BDC was officially registered under Midtae Association to work and minister to the needs and preservation of the minority hilltribes in Chiangrai.

A 7-year permit was granted by Mr Worakiate Somsoi, Governor of Chiang Rai Province to establish the children hostel ministry from 26th October 2004.

As from 30th April 2012, BDC has been granted the license from the government to run both the children hostel ministry, BHM and the bible college ministry, BBC.

BRIEF HISTORY

The idea of a having a Christian ministry in the current compound of BDC goes as far back as when Mr Kamol Harichaikul was still alive and heading the Harichaikul family.Elder Kamol Harichaikul was the belated husband of Leah and father of Warunee, Billy and Paul. He was also the elder brother of Eld Chalo.

Way back to 1975, the Harichaikul family was the only Lahu family living in Namlad, one of the many Buddhist villages in Chiangrai. Prayer meetings were initiated and subsequently, more relatives joined in and stayed under the same roof.

In 1997, after the home-going of Elder Kamol, his youngest brother Elder Chalo took the lead and continued the ministry to serve the Lord in the family.

In 1998, Eld Chalo quitted his secular job and devoted himself to the ministry - starting off with daily family devotion, Bible Study class, Lahu language class and evangelism work to the red Lahu villages.

That same year, the Hong Kong Missionary Baptist Church (HKMBC) visited the ministry and thereafter, helped by providing financial support. This ministry was named "Moses Life Christian Students Centre" (MLCSC).

In 2000, financial support from HKMBC was cut off. But by the grace of God, Eld Chalo still continued on with the ministry and more children came to stay.

In 2001, two Korean missionary couples built two hostel buildings for Eld Chalo and the children of the hostel ministry to stay. This was their token of appreciation to Eld Chalo for teaching & interpreting for them the Lahu language for two years .

Between 2002-2004, various mission awareness teams from Singapore came to visit and were encouraged as well.

Subsequently, the ministry was registered as Bethel Development Centre in 2004 with Eld Chalo's desire to follow the Bible-Presbyterian order of worship and teachings from the Word of God.

By January 2005, Calvary Pandan B-P Church officially adopted BDC as one of her overseas mission stations. Since then, Calvary Pandan BP Church has been giving full support to the children hostel ministry in BDC.

In the year 2006, Warunee graduated from Far Eastern Bible College, Singapore and went back to serve full time in BDC.

In the year 2010, Billy also graduated from FEBC and went back to serve full time in BDC as well.

On the 10th of February 2011, the Bible College (BBC) began her first semester in BDC, led by Billy.

Finally, Paul also graduated from FEBC in 2012 and returning to serve full time in BDC as well.

On 30th October 2013, Elder Chalo was called home to be with the Lord.

Truly, we can see the grace of God in His providential care for His ministry in BDC.

Glory be to God the Father, Christ Jesus His Son and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

"For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many".  Mark10:45

Aim of Ministry – to coordinate and optimize resources among the various ministries and fellowship groups and to create mission awareness in the Church.

Overseas Missions to Children (OMC) was formed in 2011 to coordinate and optimize resources among the various ministries and fellowship groups. Through the display of missions reports, testimonies on the OMC notice board and Pandan Church Website publicity, we hope to create missions awareness in the Church.

The theme of the ministry is taken from Mark 10:45, "For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." Currently, OMC does not have a formal membership, a fixed number of attendance and a formal meeting venue.  Each VBS mission is initiated on project basis.  The number of team members per project can be varied, depending on the needs of the mission station.

From its inception, God has enabled many of our church ministries and fellowship groups to conduct Vacation Bible School (VBS) in various missions outreaches.

In Indonesia, Calvary Pandan helped to conduct VBS at Calvary Kuburaya B-P Church which formerly was known as Hanura Permai B-P Church.  We thank God for the many young children who attended and were blessed by the Word of God. The work of the Overseas Missions to Children in Kuburaya Church has greatly expanded.  God enabled His ministry to grow not only in Kuburaya Church but also in Siantan Church.  But indeed, the harvest truly is great but the labourers are few.  We pray that God will continue to send His people from the various ministries in our church to go beyond our shores to teach the children the Word of God and to lead these young souls to salvation in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

In Northern Thailand, we thank God for sending the team that supports BDC Chiang Rai in conducting the VBS. Thank God that the BDC children have grown in the faith and knowledge of the Lord.

In East Malaysia, God enabled our church to conduct VBS for Sibu BPC in Sibu and Miri outreaches in Sarawak. The children are still very much in need of spiritual feeding and guidance from the Word of God. We thank God for the church ministries that have gone forth to help His children in East Malaysia and we earnestly pray that many more will go forth to serve.

God opened a door for our church to serve in 2017 via Kathmandu BP Church.  A team from Calvary Pandan has been co-labouring with our Nepalese brethren to conduct annual VBS since 2018.

Thank God for the good reports of blessings received. There has been an increase in the number of adult and young adult members with young families who were willing to go and serve the Lord in missions. We see how the Lord would use us to edify His people. These activities also encourage God's servants to press on in the work of the Lord, especially in the children's ministry.

We pray that in the coming years, more members will be encouraged to serve in overseas missions outreaches among the children.
