My dear readers,
1. The happiest day
You ask, "And which day might that be?" I believe there’s no happier day than the day of our Lord’s return to earth! Here’s a record of the experience of the Apostle John, when he recorded the coming of the Lord. Let us read the Apostle’s account in Revelation1:7-9:
"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ."
To believers, it will be a very happy event, when they see their Saviour-Redeemer "face to face."
But to unbelievers, it will be a different experience, as recorded in the same Book:
"And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" (Rev 6:14-17)
I pray no one who reads this "pastoral chat" will be with this group, hiding themselves from the "wrath of the Lamb."
2. Reader, for your attention, please!
I expect some unbelievers will chance to read my "newsletter" written to believers. If so, may I say a word to you, my unbelieving friend.
Nothing happens by chance – surely not your coming across this letter (to my congregation). May I say a word of counsel to you.
I earnestly invite you to read this "newsletter" and let God speak to you by my words. May I urgently, and with a prayer, urge you to consider receiving the Lord Jesus as your Saviour-Redeemer, to deliver you from "self-righteousness" – to put all your faith in Jesus, who said:
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Rev 3:20)
3. The next quarter at SGH
At Sunset Gospel Hour, during the months of April, May and June, we shall consider the various aspects of our Lord’s Return to Earth, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. "Remember the Lord’s Day, the Christian’s Sabbath, to keep it holy! Come to SGH – no better thing to do."
I invite you to spend the closing hours of the Lord’s Day to fellowship with God’s people! SGH will bring you much blessing and joy. Let us study God’s Word together and exhort, encourage one another on how to serve Him better.
God bless all readers with His grace, mercy and peace, looking for the Saviour’s return, as we see the signs appearing!
God bless you!
4. SGH – opportunity for Evening Worship!
Have you ever thought: when the Lord returns, what a golden opportunity it will be for each of us, to personally say, "Thank you, Lord, for going to the cross in my place." All of us, I’m sure, have expressed our great gratitude in our prayers, but to personally express our great gratitude – that will be our first time! Think of it.
Next, consider your attitude toward the "Lord’s Day." How should we spend this day? Every grateful believer will want to express gratitude in worship, morning and evening. We have both morning and evening Services, but many (more than half) of our members stay away from the Evening Service. Why?
Don’t be a "Courtesy Call" Christian – thinking that having attended Morning Service, it’s enough: why again in the evening? Let’s express our gratitude by keeping the Lord’s Day holy and to the maximum glory of God!
SGH is for you! Don’t miss it! God bless!
Yours faithfully in the Saviour’s Service,
Dr SH Tow, Sr Pastor
