My dear readers,
1. When Jesus Comes
Will you be ready to face Him, when He comes? To some readers, the reaction may be: "What has that got to do with me?" People generally are under the impression that Jesus was an intruder on the world stage, not realizing that He is Creator and Lord of all the earth! Read John’s Gospel chapter 1 verse 3: "All things were made by him …" So, we state, as a matter of fact: Jesus is the Creator, Lord and Originator – the One who made everything, including the Universe!
Not only did He create everything but He sustains or upholds the Creation –
Universe and all things.
I refer you to the record of John the Apostle. In John 1:1-3, it is recorded:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."
The next question is: "Why is Jesus coming, and from where?" This brings up the greater and more searching question which cannot be answered here. But I address only believers, i.e. Christians, and naturally refer to sacredhistory, as recorded in the Bible. To answer our foregoing question, we refer to Holy Scripture relevant to our question.
2. Record of John’s Gospel, 14:1-3
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
It will be an amazing and indescribable experience for those who belong to Him, which means also belonging to God, the Father of Jesus!
We, having lived on earth all our lives, will experience an unimaginable change – suddenly transported from Earth to Heaven. Did I say "unimaginable"?
Yes, exactly so: the change will be truly beyond our earthly thinking and imagination. We refer to another passage of Scripture, Philippians 3:20-21 which says that we Christians are citizens of "heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious (supernatural) body …"
The change, from Earth to Heaven and the change of our mortal "body of dust" into the glorious heavenly, supernatural body, will be "out of this world" – something beyond imagination (but which the Lord will do for each of us who belong to Him).
The Lord Jesus will be coming again soon, and these "supernatural happenings" will come to pass! Question: Will you be ready for Him when He comes? This is the question which you only can answer!
3. Will you be ready?
This is a hard question to answer, and each person must answer for himself / herself. You must be a true believer: one who has put all his faith entirely on the Lord Jesus as Saviour, Master and Lord; one who looks to Him daily, expecting His return anytime, not captivated by the world or the things of the world.
Give full attention and love to the Lord. Remember His words in 1 John 2:15-17:
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
4. A chapter you must read
If you are interested in the signs of our Lord’s return, you must read Matthew chapter 24. It is full of useful signs – events which precede our Lord’s return. Here are some of the major signs which you must not miss. In verses 6-7, our Lord speaks of false Christs – counterfeits. In verse 6, He speaks of "wars and rumours of wars." In verse 7, "famines, … pestilences, and earthquakes …" (Editor: These events have taken place in abundance in recent years.)
Then in verse 24, it speaks of "false Christs and false prophets," showing great "signs and wonders" – and many shall be deceived. In verses 32 and 33, Jesus speaks of the rebirth of Israel (likened to the fig tree). (Editor: Both these predictions have been literally fulfilled.)
These prophecies are sure and certain (Matt 24:35). Two other signs mentioned by our Lord are the appearance of "…days of Noah… (and) days of Lot…" (Luke 17:26-30) when there will be widespread unbelief and homosexuality. Both signs prevail in today’s society.
Question: Is this not significant?
Dear reader, pray the Lord to give you faith to believe and be ready – for His coming is "…even at the doors" (Matt 24:33).
Yours faithfully in the Saviour’s Service,
Dr SH Tow, Sr Pastor
