My dear readers,
1. Surveying the Horizon
What does it convey to you? The war clouds of two weeks ago have cleared somewhat, but the "prophescope" tells of continuing unrest – war and global upheaval. These are part of the future. In part the future lies with the "little horn" of Daniel 7:8 and 7:20. Did you realize that this "little horn" "before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows" (Dan 7:20) was the USA? Did you not also puzzle who were the "three which fell"? Think back on the South East Asia scenario, "after Pearl Harbour?" Remember … the history of South East Asia of the 1940s? Watch out for startling world developments of the future!
You will be more than shocked with the USA if you are delving into her history, but thank God for Daniel’s prophecy – see Daniel 7:27:
"And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him."
Thank God, USA, the "little horn" will not finally inherit the Kingdom but "God’s people" shall (Dan 7:27).
2. War clouds gathering
At the moment, it is mostly "talk and no action" but whatever the talk, the "stuff and tone" was far from peaceful. Reading between the lines, and sizing up the actors, each player is acting "cautious." The only "hot spot" is Ukraine and the bone of contention has provoked Russia. At the moment the strife is somewhat confined or contained, but who can tell if it will spread beyond domestic boundaries and light up international tempers to get involved. No doubt the "Big Powers" are closely watching the situation.
The "bottom line" says, "Number the days and keep pressing on," the days are truly numbered: these are perilous times. At any moment the heavenly trumpet may sound and the angel’s warning siren may announce: "The Lord is on the way! Be ready!" We are truly living in the last of the last days.
3. Today was a "Memorable Day of Remembrance"
Some readers may have guessed it. We visited her resting place. The weather was kind to us. We brought her favourite red roses and found someone had left the same! Who could it be? Guess. Yours is as good as mine.
It was a case of "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." And for those who love the Lord, press on with great zeal and fervor!
That’s another reason to "hasten the Lord’s coming," for all of us, or most of us! Reason for doing so are not hard to identify!
So let’s all work harder! Hasten that blessed Day, my comrades! It will not be long!
4. Lately we have been dwelling on "The Lord’s Return"
There’s no better topic for God’s people to be deeply involved than to delve deeply into the Lord’s return. One of the things our Lord will do is to activate God’s "Judgment Seat." Hear His call from Heaven:
"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last" (Rev 22:12-13).
We can all do better, serving the Lord! So, press on; whoever you are, whether in Session or out, the Lord has work for us all! Serve well, with your best and hear His "Well done."
We conclude our little exhortation by telling ourselves "the days of service" are very soon drawing to a close. As soon as the heavenly trumpet sounds, it means, "The Lord has come." That is it. Amen.
5. Give of your best to the Master!
Excluding the "consecrated" groups of Session members, we have numbers serving in Junior Worship, CMC (Calvary Missions to Children), several choir and fellowship groups, service groups of ushers and welcomers (besides other unnamed groups). I thank God for all members of all groups.
I say a "Hearty welcome to all! Let’s provoke one another unto love and to good works." Each of us knows our capacity and capability. To each of you I say, "Let’s do our best for the Master, before He comes. Work, for the night is coming, when all work must come to a halt! Strive, therefore, while it is still day!"
For me, my day is almost gone, but I strive still! Let us play our part, do our best, for the Master – before He comes!
Yours sincerely in the Saviour’s love,
Dr SH Tow, Sr Pastor
