1. Signs of the End-Time

Some weeks ago, "war clouds" and "war drums" caught our attention. The warnings of war muted a while. A Straits Times article on 7 June 2014(author Mark Valencia of the Institute for South China Studies in Haikou, China) warns in unmistakable terms, "Whiff of war" is present in the air. If so, can the belligerent parties continue to pretend to be "nice"? The writer says, "barbs fly in territorial disputes; the conflict is confined and ‘probing.’" But the mood of the moment and the "probing parties" are still somewhat restrained.

As we have seen in recent conflicts, particularly in World War II, "the best is kept to the last." We went through WWII (1939-1945). With the release of the "Doomsday Bomb" over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, suddenly WWII came to an end.

Warfare today has entered a more advanced and fearsome kind: weapons of deadly power of mass and total destruction are released simply "at the press of a button." The US is ready for "push button" warfare. American superiority will be proved on the battlefield. China and Russia have yet to learn a lesson, but will someday, soon.

Today it is "whiff war." In the day coming people will not talk of "whiffs of war." It will be as described in Revelation 6:14-17:

"And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"

Where is our safety then? Only in the Lord, the coming King of kings and Lord of lords! Today, the world’s "kings and lords" think their power is supreme. But when our Lord Jesus returns, then they will know who has the greater (and unmatchable) power from which they must call for help! Read again verses 16 and 17 of Revelation 6:

"And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"

Then the world’s "powers" are nothing when our Lord returns. That’s why we keep telling our congregation, "The Lord is coming: are you ready?" Come to SGH! At SGH we declare unto you the coming of our Lord, and future happenings. You will not regret it!

2. Calvary Pandan Family Bible Camp

This year we gather for 6 days – June 16-21. Those who are coming, come in the spirit of prayer.

"Pray without ceasing" (1 Thess 5:17).

Let us be

"filled with God’s spirit" (Eph 5:18).

"Bible Camp" is expensive business! We spend "big bucks" for six days and return home with little to show for our efforts. So it seems. Does it so strike you?

I trust we are more than "casual observers" but are seriously committed to God’s business. Our one objective is the "souls of boys and girls," of "men and women" – to be fully won to the cause of Christ our Lord – to be armed with the "panoply of God."

If you mean business, tell the Lord so! Seriously, speak to Him, even in tears. Beware, the adversary is never far away. Only earnest intercession from the heart reaches to God’s Throne. Be like our Lord – wrestling in prayer.

Finally, remember Potiphar’s wife! She may also attend Bible Camps!
