Pastoral Chat

7 September 2014

My dear readers,

1. "CMC" - Calvary Missions to Children

This week (6 September) CMC commemorates 24 years of service. Presently CMC involves a team of Teachers and Helpers (32), Transportation (16), Refreshment Helpers (4); Pianists (4), Librarians (4), total of 60 people dedicated to God’s service.

These 60 persons devote their Saturday afternoons to reach some one hundred children with the Gospel message. Saturday afternoon is, to most people "prime time" for "entertainment, recreation and relaxation," or to some people, "catch up" time, for "catching up" with whatever they had not enough time to do during weekdays, e.g. sleep, some hobby or simply relaxation doing nothing!

Most people fill their Saturday afternoons with something precious to their own "heart’s desire".

To use such "precious time" for Gospel outreach is God-obeying and God-honouring. May God bless the brothers and sisters of CMC.

Calvary Pandan also has a "Tracting Ministry" every 2nd and 4th Sunday afternoon. In obedience to our Lord’s command, these valiant teams of "Gospel Tracters" devote their Sunday afternoons to give out Gospel pamphlets and tracts to residents in housing estates, especially those close to our church and neighbouring estates, to share with the residents the Gospel message which gives everlasting life.

2. Sharing the Gospel by "Tracting"
(from their own source)

Obeying our Lord’s command in Matthew 28:19 – a blessed and God-honouring thing to do.

To Christians who have never done witnessing and are interested in tracting, please read on:

1. OBEY the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. GET OUT of your comfort zone and GO.

2. DO NOT FATTEN yourselves with undigested doctrine. DOCTRINE needs to be practised with FAITH and OBEDIENCE.

3. DO NOT BE SELFISH with the gospel, keeping it to yourself. IT IS MORE BLESSED To Give than to receive.

4. DO NOT DELAY. Our Lord Jesus is coming SOON! Watch and Pray and GO!

5. DEPRESSED? EVANGELISM CURES Depression. Think LESS of Personal Problems. Think MORE of Lost Souls. KEEP Eternal Values in view.

6. DO NOT SAY I don't know how. Cannot speak? Use a tract! Go in pairs!

7. DO NOT SAY I don't have time. May the Lord set you free on His Day to do His work. Join Tracting Team 2.00 pm - 4.30 pm, every 2nd & 4th Lord's Day.

8. DO NOT HARDEN your heart. Is there SIN in the camp? REPENT and Believe the Gospel.

9. NOT by might, NOR by power, but by MY SPIRIT, saith the Lord of hosts. (Zech 4:6) May God help you – if you are "weak", He will strengthen you.

10. LOVE because God first loved you. GIVE because you have received freely. SEEK because you had been sought. FIND because you had been found. OBEY and Go! Be a good witness for the Lord.
God bless all readers.

Yours faithfully in the Saviour’s Service,
Dr SH Tow, Sr Pastor

PS. I share a response to the above article from Brother Patrick Tan.
"After Dr Tow's sharing last night, I truly was very burdened to pray for our Church members to be obedient to evangelize for Christ. So I was not surprised to receive Dr Tow’s call this morning.

"Recently, after Elder Cheong's exhortation during prayer meeting to evangelize, Brother Peck Ern Min responded by joining tracting. God is indeed very merciful and gracious to open hearts to his call.

"Tracting this Sunday (7 Sept 2014) - meet 2.00 pm at Cryroom. Preacher Ko Ling Kang shares on "Limited Atonement". All are welcome." -- Patrick
