"THEY THAT WAIT UPON THE LORD SHALL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH." Dare you take the Lord at His word? Waiting before the throne of God makes for holiness: a quiet soul exercising faith in His word, hoping in His mercy, endeavouring to do His good pleasure, and patiently submitting to His will, is well pleasing unto the Lord. The waiting soul senses God in all things, sees Him as present everywhere, and acknowledges His hand in every event. Wait on your God continually, so will you be safe in every danger, happy under every trial, and the Lord will bestow honour upon you with each passing day. Wait on the Lord as the faithful servant on his kind and caring master; as the attentive maiden on her benevolent mistress; as the affectionate child on his loving parent. Wait on Him, for He welcomes the exercise. Wait on Him, for He expects it of you. Wait on Him: He rewards it with a blessing. "Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Have you been waiting on your God today? Are you in a quiet waiting frame tonight? Can we say, "I wait for the Lord, and in His word do I hope"?
For Meditation:
Wait, believing on the Lord,
Still let courage cheer thy heart;
Wait, for faithful is His word,
He will grace and strength impart.
