Daily Remembrancer

April 10 Evening: "Thou shalt glorify me" - Ps 50:15

TROUBLE ALWAYS DRIVES US TO THE LORD IN PRAYER. When we go to Him He kindly listens and graciously answers. But when prayer is answered and deliverance is enjoyed, then He expects to be acknowledged and adored. We glorify God when our hearts are grateful for His mercies; when we praise Him for His undeser ved favours; and when we commend Him to others, as faithful to His word, merciful to His enemies, and gracious to all who apply at His throne. But we glorify Him also when we exercise filial confidence in His promises; when we expect all He has promised, because He is true; when we call upon Him first, in every trial and trouble; and when we carry all our cares to His feet, and leave them at His throne. By silent submission under bereavements, by calm resignation in trials, by the daily offering up of the heart as a sacrifice, by tender concern for His honour, by filial loyalty to His cause, by fraternal affection to His people, by preferring His will to our own, we glorify Him. Let us make this the chief business of our lives. Let us charge ourselves every morning, saying, "My soul, see to it that thou glorify God today."

For Meditation:
He who offers grateful praises,
Best exalts Jehovah's name:
He whose heart His law embraces,
Will aright enlarge His fame.
