"THE GRACE OF OUR LORD WAS EXCEEDING ABUNDANT IN CHRIST JESUS." Such was God's lovingkindness toward us. Let us think of it as it appears in the place and circumstances of our birth, wherever that may be. In our education and preservation and especially in our regeneration, that we were born again not of the will of the flesh, nor of blood, but of God. How many born in the same place, about the same time, and educated in the same school, have passed out of time into eternity, under the curse of God. Why are we different? We are called by grace, justified from all sin in the righteousness of Jesus! We are kept by the power of God, supplied according to His promises, and walking with God. We look for the coming of Jesus with hope, with holy longings and steadfast faith, having the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come! In Christ we are able to say, "All things are mine, for I am Christ's and Christ is God's." O how great is the goodness of our God! How unsearchable is His grace, and His kindness towards us, beyond human comprehension!
For Meditation:
Who can have greater cause to sing,
Who greater cause to bless,
Than we, the children of the King,
Than we who Christ possess?
Our all to His great kindness owe,
And grateful praise should ever flow.
