OUR LORD JESUS WENT ABOUT EVERYWHERE DOING GOOD. So tender is the heart of Jesus, so gentle His disposition, that the feeblest need not faint, the most timid need not fear. He notices the first stirrings of devotion, the secret inclination and the buddings of faith, and He appreciates and approves of them. He knows the strength of our corruptions, the soul conflicts we have and what poor mortals we are. Yet for our comfort He assures us, that though weak and worthless as a bruised reed, He will not reject us, or crush us by His power. He will bind up and heal, even the bruised reed. He will encourage our holy desires; He will foster our little faith; He will receive our imperfect prayers; He will accept and bless the discouraged soul. He comes as a Lamb, to give us confidence; as a Shepherd, to keep us from alarm; and as a Saviour, to draw us to His throne. He will not break the bruised reed Himself, nor will He allow others to do it. Beloved, are you bruised by Satan, troubled by unbelief, and by the hostile world? Do you feel weak and worthless? Are you discouraged and filled with fear? Fear not! Jesus is gentle, kind, and gracious. He despises none. He rejects no supplicants. Whosoever will may come. He will not cast you out.

My broken life Thou canst remake;
Help me escape the hostile world,
Where Satan's darts at me are hurled;
In Thee, dear Lord I am secure,
In Thee, the promised home is sure.
