November 27 Evening: "Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow" - Ps 51:7

"BLOT OUT ALL MINE INIQUITIES, O GOD." David was no common sinner. His crimes had left a crimson stain. His views of sin were vivid and powerful. But more powerful were his views of the efficacy of the atonement, and he was fully persuaded that if applied it would entirely remove the sin stain: He believed that if the Lord washed him, He would take away every spot and trace of sin, and that he would be whiter than snow. In faith David cried unto the Lord, and the Lord heard him. Beloved, however black your crimes, however deep the stains of sin, the precious blood of Jesus can remove the whole. If your God wash you, He will purge out every stain; He will make you perfectly clean. It is said of those above, who were once sinners like us below, "They are without fault before the throne of God." And it is said of Jesus, to His eternal honour, that He is able "to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy." You never can fully estimate the value of the Saviour's blood, for it cleanses from all sin.

For Meditation:
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
O precious is the flow
That washes white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
