"THE FIRE SHALL TRY EVERY MAN'S WORK." A great day of reckoning is coming, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven in flaming fire, when the dead shall be raised, and the last judgment commence. O what a day that will be! Then every covering shall be removed, every secret exposed. It will be a revealing day, a discovering day, a condemning day, a justifying day. Then our motives will all be discovered, and our intentions laid bare. Hypocrisy will be exposed and every deception punished. O beloved, let us live daily as having that day in view before us; let us act, fully persuaded that on that day all will be exposed, every secret revealed. Are we sincere? Are we striving for God's glory or self exaltation? The day will declare it. Are we conducting our business on Christian or worldly principles? Are we honest and humble? The day will declare it. Is our profession founded on faith in, and love to, Jesus? The day will declare it. O may that day declare that you are a humble, holy, watchful, loyal disciple of the Lord Jesus!

Soon we shall see the dread array,
The pomp of that momentous day!
With clouds of heaven Christ shall appear
To judge the nations at His bar;
With joy dear Lord, I shall be there,
To meet my Saviour in the air.
