"AS CHRIST ALSO HATH LOVED US." Christ our Lord gave Himself for us. His is divine love, God's love. God is love. When the love of God takes control in the heart, it transforms us, giving us a loving nature. This new nature is a blessing to be manifested and shared. We are to let our light shine before men as we walk in love. This walk in love is firstly toward God, for His mercy towards us; secondly it is love to man for God's sake. By the same rule of love, we learn to do unto others as we would they should do unto us, seeking their spiritual and material welfare. God's love in us is clearly seen when we show no envy, jealousy, malice, or ill-will against any. On the contrary, God's love causes us to wish them well, and desire to promote their best interests at all times. Love should be the guiding rule in all our actions, the chief motive in our souls. God loves us. His Holy Spirit is the Spirit of love, and love is the sure evidence of regeneration. Let us not be satisfied to merely think that we love, but let us show it. Expressed in another way, let us prove our love not by talk but by walk and thus be a blessing to others. When God's love rules in our hearts, then all anger, bitterness, envy and fault finding become things of the past. Let us walk in love.

May I from every act abstain
That hurts or gives my brother pain;
Nay, every secret wish suppress,
That would hinder his happiness;
And thus may I Thy follower prove,
Great Prince of Peace, great God of Love!
