December 19 Evening: "Christ's servant" - 1 Cor 7:22

"BE NOT YE THE SERVANTS OF MEN." Because ye are bought with a price, even the precious blood of Christ, therefore every Christian is a servant to Christ his Master. The precepts of the gospel are his rule which he delights to obey. He has pledged himself to do the will of God from the heart. He that is not willing to serve Christ, has no evidence whatever that he is interested in Him. The Christian was purchased at great price to be a servant. He is converted that he might devote his powers to the Lord. Let us then enquire tonight, Is Jesus our Master? Do we view Him as such? Do we consult His will in all we do? Do we act as under His eye? Do we often ask ourselves the question, Will this please my Master? Do we look to Him for our supplies, for our orders, and for our reward, as loyal servants? O may the Holy Spirit daily impress these thoughts upon my mind, because I am Christ's servant. He is my wise, holy, and generous Master. My chief business is to please Him. My highest object is to receive His approval. The world can have no claim upon me. Satan has no right to me. The flesh shall not rule over me. Beloved, have you been serving Jesus today? Have you consulted His word? Are you walking upright before Him?

For Meditation:
While with my lips I call Thee, Lord,
O let my heart its Lord confess;
My life be governed by Thy word,
In all the paths of righteousness;
I'll strive always to do Thy will,
Ascend by faith Thy holy hill.
