December 20 Evening: "All things are become new" - 2 Cor 5:17

"IN CHRIST, HE IS A NEW CREATURE: OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY." The newborn Christian walks in newness of life in Christ his Saviour. Such is the feeling of the young Christian, and such is the experience of every Christian. He has a new life, a spiritual. He feeds upon new provisions, the bread which came down from heaven. He is engaged in new employments, which are holy, not worldly. He acts from a new motive, aims at a new end, even God's glory. He joins a new society, the Church of God. All things become new. He is introduced to a new paradise, peace and reconciliation to God. He is under a new covenant, the covenant of grace, not of works. He enters into new relations: God is his Father, angels his servants, Christ his Brother, the Holy Spirit his Comforter. He stands in new relations: to God, he is a child; to angels, a charge; to the world, a witness; to Christ, a servant; to the Holy Spirit, a temple. He experiences new desires, new hopes, new fears, and new joys. He looks for a new heaven and a new earth wherein dwells righteousness. He is not as he was, cursed. He is not what he was, carnal. He is not where he was, in Adam; he is now in Christ. "He is a new creature, old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

For Meditation:
Now, Lord, I would be Thine alone,
And wholly live to Thee;
'Tis grace indeed that Thou should'st own,
A worthless worm like me.
