Daily Remembrancer

June 16 Morning: "I go to prepare a place for you" - Jn 14:2

"I WILL COME AGAIN AND RECEIVE YOU UNTO MYSELF." On earth our Lord defeated death for us. In heaven, He continues to do us good. See what our Lord is doing: He is engaged for us; He paid the ransom price for us on earth, and then ascended to heaven to prepare a place for us. The place He prepares will be worthy of Himself; "His rest will be glorious." There the wicked cease from troubling, sin shall no more annoy, troubles shall no more beset, the weary shall be at rest. He is preparing us for the place, as well as the place for us. Today we are tried and afflicted. But our light afflictions which are only for a moment, are working out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Let us daily think of Jesus as busy for us; let us see death as our going to take possession of the place He has prepared for us; and when we are cast down, let us remember, Jesus will come again and receive us unto Himself, that where He is, we may be also. Our present lodgings may be cramped and uncomfortable; but our mansion will be magnificent and worthy. He that overcomes shall inherit all things, and Jehovah will be his God. Glorious privilege! Unspeakable blessing! Sweet prospect!

For Meditation:
And art Thou, gracious Saviour, gone,
A mansion to prepare for me?
Soon I'll behold Thee on Thy throne,
And there for ever reign with Thee.
Now let the world deride or blame,
Then I shall triumph in Thy name.
