OUR LEADER IS THE LORD FROM HEAVEN. In consideration of our ignorance, God has sent us His Son. We know not the way to our Father's house, but Jesus is sent to lead the blind by a way which they know not. On account of the difficulties along the way, which are many and great, Jesus comes as our Leader, saying, "I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you." It manifests our heavenly Father's concern for our safety, security and comfort. He sent His only Son because He could trust us in His hands; He being infinitely wise, gracious, forbearing, and powerful. He came to lead us out of the world into the church, from the law to the gospel, from sin to holiness, from wrath to love. He leads His people to the throne of grace, the house of prayer, the pastures of the good Shepherd, and the mansions of endless delight. He leads us against Satan, and we overcome; against lust, and we conquer. He leads us in the way He went Himself, even the way of the cross, and there to crucify the old man, and revive and strengthen the new. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Lead me on, almighty Saviour,
Scatter every hostile band;
Be my Guide, my great Protector,
Till on Canaan's shores I stand:
Shouts of victory
Then shall fill the promised land.
