July 18 Morning: "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God" - Mt 5:8

LOOK TO GOD AND RECEIVE HIS SAVING FAITH. It is faith that purifies the heart, brings home the atonement, and gives pardon, peace, and reconciliation; it purges the conscience from dead works, and delivers from all condemnation. It receives the truth of God, and Jesus through the truth; by faith we receive power to become the sons of God. We realize our relationship to God, read the gracious promises of God and anticipate the glorious kingdom He has prepared; hope rules in the heart, and everyone that has this hope in Him purifies himself, even as Christ is pure. His conscience is made tender, his intentions are made honest, and his heart is soundly grounded in God's statutes. He groans under a body of sin and death, proclaims unceasing war against the flesh, and loathes himself on account of filthiness in the spirit. He would give the world to be free from sin, for holiness is the element of his soul. He is blessed. One day he will see God, and enjoy Him as his Father, and everlasting All in All. He will be with his God; and be like Him, in purity, holiness, and glory.

For Meditation:
Jesus, Thy crowning grace impart;
Bless me with pure unsinning heart,
That now beholding Thee,
I soon may view Thy glorious face,
On all Thy wondrous beauty gaze,
And God for ever see!
