July 24 Morning: "The way of peace" - Rom 3:17

IN THE WORLD TRIBULATION, IN CHRIST PEACE. Peace is not to be obtained by the works of the law, but in faith by receiving the Saviour into our heart. Peace comes by believing on Him as able and willing to save; by trusting the testimony God has given of His Son; by renouncing self as loathsome in the sight of God; by relying simply and always on Jesus for all we need; and by daily making a hearty surrender and commitment to God our Saviour. If we would maintain peace, we must rest in the promises of God and walk by His precepts. We must be loyal to the King of Zion, communing daily with our heavenly Father, attending upon Him and obeying His holy ordinance. We must rely on His providence, frequent the open fountain for purification, cleave to the saints, the body of Christ, and separate ourselves from the world, and set our affection on things above. When troubles arise to threaten our peace remember: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

For Meditation:
There is no path to heavenly bliss,
Or solid joy, or lasting peace,
But Christ, th' appointed road;
O may I tread the sacred way,
By faith rejoice, and praise, and pray
Till I behold my God.
