THE LOVE OF CHRIST IS INEXHAUSTIBLE. He loved us before we knew Him, and He manifested His love by taking our part, preferring our nature to that of angels, by taking our flesh and blood, and making a full and sufficient atonement for our sins, by conquering our spiritual foes, by going to heaven as our forerunner, by sending down the Holy Spirit, by acting as our advocate and intercessor, and by sympathising with us. He manifested His love to us in that while we were yet enemies to God He died for us. He bore with us while under conviction of sin. He only chastens when He might justly punish us. He restores us from all our backslidings. He works for us and supplies all our needs. He rejoices to save us though great sinners we were. He does everything necessary for us and does all cheerfully. His love is seen in what He yet intends to do: He will come and fetch us as our heavenly Bridegroom. He will separate us from all sinners. He will clothe us with glory. He will publicly receive us as His bride. He will exalt us to His throne. He will bring us to reign where we served, to rejoice where we suffered, and to shine where we were put to shame.
For Meditation:
God loves the world of sinners lost,
And ruined by the fall;
Salvation's gift at highest cost,
He offers free to all.
Love sends the glorious message in,
To contrite hearts made known:
God has forgiven every sin
Through faith in Christ alone.
