"THE SPIRIT BEARS WITNESS WITH OUR SPIRIT, THAT WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD." Amazing thought, that we are children of God! How can this be? When we received the Lord, we were born again, given a new nature, producing new desires, new tastes, new sorrows, new joys, new pursuits; now we are taught of God, having received the Spirit of adoption. Children should believe what their Father says, do what their Father bids, go where their Father sends; they should trust His loving care, abide in His promises and look for His supplies. What comfort such a relationship affords! You are not, you cannot be friendless. You should not despond, but remember, in all your trials, the Father loves you. In poverty think of the Father's wealth; under reproaches, remember your royal sonship; in sickness, think of your happy home; in death, your endless life. "Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is."

Lord may a sense of all Thy grace
My best affections move;
And while my lips proclaim Thy praise,
My heart will sing Thy love.
