"THOU WILT KEEP HIM IN PERFECT PEACE, WHOSE MIND IS STAYED ON THEE." And whose minds are stayed on the Lord but the saints'? The saints are the sanctified ones, those who were set apart by the Father for His praise; who were separated by the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ; who are regenerated, purified, and called out of the world by the agency and operation of the Holy Spirit. They are not of the world even as Jesus was not of the world. But though thus privileged they are entirely dependent on the Lord. Their keeping is of God, for no one else is sufficient to preserve them. Their weakness is very great, their road is rough, thorny, and dangerous. Their foes are many, vigilant, crafty and determined. Their fears are great, their courage small. Still they are safe, for the Lord is their keeper. He keeps them from pride, presumption, and final falling. He keeps them by His word, by His Spirit, through trials, disappointments and bereavements; He keeps them by His angels and by His ordinances. They are safe whom God keeps. He keeps all His saints, without exception. But He keeps none but saints, therefore false professors fall. Saviour! I trust Thy 'mazing grace,
For Meditation:
To uphold my goings in Thy ways;
Till walking with my God I see
The glorious place prepared for me.
