September 18 Morning: "He forgetteth not the cry of the humble" - Ps 9:12

"THE LORD ALSO WILL BE A REFUGE IN TIMES OF TROUBLE." The humble grateful soul shall receive every good gift from the Lord, so great is His love to him and delight in him. He cries to the Lord to be kept from every false way, from falling into sin, that he may be devoted wholly to the Lord's glory. He prays for his enemies that they may be blessed, and for his friends that they may be richly rewarded. His cry is constant, sincere, and earnest. But he is often tempted to think that because he is so unworthy, so insignificant, and so poor, that God will not hear him, especially when answers are delayed. But the cry of the humble will not be forgotten. The Lord will not neglect or pass over such a prayer without notice; He will not despise or condemn; but He will regard, and answer his cry. His wisdom will shine forth as the day when He answers their prayers; and He will Himself receive all the glory. O humble soul, never harbour the thought that your God will forget your petitions!

For Meditation:
Friend of sinners, Lord of saints,
Answer my minutest wants;
Let my cries Thy throne assail,
Entering now within the veil;
Free my soul from guilt and shame-
This I pray in Jesus' name.
