QUICKLY REPENT OF YOUR SIN

When the LORD confronted Cain, Cain became very angry and was filled with displeasure instead of repenting of his sin. The LORD, who is full of mercy, however, asked Cain why he was so hot in contention and burned with anger. God told Cain that if he had done well by believing what was instructed, he and his offering would have been accepted.

God justly reproved Cain for his sin. Cain could have admitted his wilful disobedience and asked for God’s forgiveness. But Cain, like any other foolish and wicked man, contended with God. The LORD told Cain that sin’s desire was to lure and prevail over him. Hence, He commanded Cain to overcome sin which could only be done through faith in the Messiah of God. He should believe and prove his faith by bringing a blood-sacrifice.

God has delivered man from the power and bondage of sin by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. What Cain needed to do was to only repent and believe, but he failed to do it.

Dear Christian, if you have sinned against God and have transgressed His Word, rather than pursuing your own ways, you must confess and repent of your sins. The Lord has provided us a way of access to His Holy Throne of Grace and we can be reconciled to Him right away. Do not delay. Do not procrastinate. Let not the sin in your heart grow and harden you. Humble yourself before the Lord and acknowledge that you have sinned against Him. Seek His forgiveness. Let not the accuser cause you to be depressed. God is willing to forgive you of all your sins and to cleanse you through the blood of Jesus Christ!

THOUGHT: Am I repentant of my sins?
PRAYER: "Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O LORD" (Ps 25:6-7).
