DO YOU BELONG TO GOD’S KINGDOM?
If you are not of God’s Kingdom, you are of the kingdom of Satan. There is no neutral ground. Satan, the prince of this world (John 12:31), would have you in his dominion. He tempts and lures with all that the world can offer; but having all the world’s goods is of no avail. One day we must leave this world. What then will you do, and where will you go? This is the vital question which each of us must answer.
Jesus came to win us to His Kingdom. Today, God’s Kingdom seems distant and beyond reach, intangible and invisible. So it is, for it is a spiritual kingdom. To the hearers, the King says, “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matt 4:17). It is not for the proud and self-sufficient to enter, but “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt 5:3).
Nicodemus was well-endowed with what the world had to offer. He was learned, rich and powerful. Nevertheless, he had an interest in God’s Kingdom. Our Lord said to him, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). All of Nicodemus’ possessions and prestige could not gain him a place in God’s Kingdom. He needed to be born again.
How can a person be born again? Let me explain. You and I gained an entry into this world when our parents gave birth to us. Call it the gift of life, physical life. But this life lasts 70 to 80 years, more or less. It will not admit us into God’s Kingdom. You need another life, another birth. Only God can give you that life. To those who come to Him, repenting with a broken spirit and a contrite heart, the Lord gives the “second birth,” a new life, God’s life. Realise that you cannot save yourself. Only Christ the Lord can fit you for His Kingdom. Only He can give you everlasting life in Heaven. Have you received this life from Him? Have you been born again?
THOUGHT: Entry into God’s Kingdom is by grace, through faith, a free gift!
PRAYER: I acknowledge I am a sinner, O Father, and I need Jesus to be my Saviour. I want to be born again and be part of Thy Kingdom.
