The unprecedented and miraculous revival of the Jewish nation, after a turbulent 3,500-year history of dispersion and destruction never yet experienced by any other people, was all in precise fulfilment of Scripture prophecy. It is sufficient evidence to convince any unbiased reader of the Bible that this Book is truly the WORD OF GOD.
Some 1,500 years before it happened, the Jews were warned by God of grievous punishment and scattering among the heathen, if they sinned. All that the Word of God promised came to pass. Read again Deuteronomy 28:65-67 and appreciate the plight of God’s people. The persecutions, expulsions, plunderings, tortures, rape, extremes of inhuman treatment, mass killings, experienced by the Jews are unique. No other people have tasted even a tenth of their sufferings.
In spite of Pharaoh of Egypt, the Assyrian and Roman conquerors, the holy Inquisitors, and Hitler the beast, the Jewish people have survived, supernaturally preserved. “It is a miracle,” said Connor Cruise O’Brien in his book “Siege.” In spite of all their sins, God has not forsaken Israel. He promised to keep His covenant with them, and be a sanctuary to them, and eventually to regather them in the Land (Lev 26:44; Ezek 11:16; Isa 14:1; 60:4).
In 1948, according to God’s promise, the Jewish people regained their Land, and from 100 countries they began to return, in ever swelling numbers. In forty years, the population increased five-fold (from 800,000 to 4 million). The fig tree is putting forth leaves. Therefore, the summer of our Lord’s return is nigh! By God’s doing, the Russian Jews were allowed to return to Israel in great numbers. In April 1990, 10,000 Jews arrived, and another 70,000-100,000 returned by 1991. Gorbachev was acting a shade like Cyrus of old.
THOUGHT: Jesus says in Matthew 24:33, “…when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.”
PRAYER: Thy will be done, O Father, on earth as it is in heaven.
