BEWARE OF APOSTASY
Apostasy is the falling away from "the faith" of the living and true God. It is one of the most important themes in the Holy Scriptures. It speaks of professing Christians denying the faith they once believed. It is a state where Christian churches oppose the fundamental teachings of God’s Word, the Bible. This is prophesied in the New Testament as well as in many accounts in the Old Testament which alludes to this generalized turning away from the truth.

Paul warns the believers not to be deceived as the Day of the Lord will not come except apostasy sets in first. This falling away will reach its peak prior to the revelation of the man of sin and the rapture of those who genuinely believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

The Word of God reminds us of that day when many shall depart from the faith. This falling away will be so rampant in the last days that the testimony of the believers will be at stake. Many Christians will compromise and become identified with those who do not believe the Word of God. This sure upcoming event will test the Christian’s devotion to his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Let us be aware of the perils that this falling away causes. Let us ponder upon our lives. It is to our advantage to let the Word of God guide and lead us. If we care not for this event, we may fall prey as victims of this end-time apostasy. The only way by which we will be enlightened to see the truth is through the study of God’s Word.

Praise be to our God who warns us of this falling away. He does not want His children to become victims of this awful situation. He cares for us enough to record warnings of this dreadful time. May the Lord cause us to be teachable and humble enough to hear the warnings through His Word.

THOUGHT: Am I aware of this end-time apostasy from the faith?
PRAYER: "Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men" (Ps 12:1).
