A SANCTIFIED SPIRIT (6)

As sanctification is an ongoing work of the Triune God in the whole being (spirit/soul and body/flesh) of His children until the Lord Jesus comes with their complete transformation and redemption, we should not think that we are perfect or holier than others. We must be sanctified to be more like Christ each day until our Lord comes. To summarize some points concerning a sanctified spirit: It must be separated from false gods, idolatry, false beliefs, false teachings, doubts, selfish motives and glory, etc. Then it must be dedicated to the Lord to belong to Him alone, to love Him and His Truth above all, to worship Him alone, to look at Him alone, to hear His voice alone, to follow Him alone, to serve Him alone, to trust in Him and His Word alone, to live for Him and His Truth alone, to do His will alone, to know Him and His Word more, to glorify Him alone, to be like Him alone, to choose Him as our joy and portion, to keep a living fellowship with Him in His light, etc. Then, it must be filled with God’s presence, the Holy Spirit and His glory like the holy temple filled with God’s cloud of glory. It is always good to remind ourselves that we are sanctified and holy, thanks to God’s holy presence alone and not due to anything from us. And because we love and treasure God’s holy presence, we must practise Biblical Separation.

Besides God’s holy presence, our spirit is also sanctified by God’s Word and Truth (John 17:17). Once we are enlightened to know God’s Truth, we must separate ourselves from wrong beliefs and unbiblical understanding and practices. While we are still living on earth with all ungodly influences around us, we do need to repent and be washed in the precious blood of the Lord Jesus from all our doubts, our lack of love for the Lord and His Truth, our failure to keep His Word, to glorify Him, etc. We must appreciate the blood of our Saviour Jesus more "if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). What about you?

THOUGHT: I must live in God’s holy presence by Jesus’ blood.
PRAYER: Lord, keep me living in Thy holy presence always.
