No man can come to me,
except the Father which hath sent me draw him"

A SANCTIFIED WILL (2)

Some people have a very strong will, and they always want their own will to be done. They may become dictators unawares at home, at school, at work, at play and even in church! The self-will of little children grows as well. If parents fail to train their children from young and keep them under control with grace and love according to God’s Word, their children may turn out to be little dictators, always demanding that their will be done! When they cannot get what they want, they will cry until they get it. When they grow up, it may be too late for the parents to control them, and they may want to leave home in order to do what they like. We see this happening everywhere today. Why? Because of the sinful and rebellious nature of human beings! Knowing this truth, Christian parents must pray hard for their children, and train and admonish them in the fear of God according to His Word. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Prov 22:6), and "bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Eph 6:4). The children need to know the Lord and His moral law or the Ten Commandments as early as possible. Thus, daily family worship at home, Bible study, prayer meeting and worship service in a Biblebelieving church are good environments for children to learn to fear God.

It is impossible for rebellious human beings to give up their self-will and to submit themselves to God’s will and His Word. The Lord Jesus Christ’s teaching and preaching were powerful and His many amazing miracles were undeniable before the eyes of many. Many came to the Lord for material blessings, to be fed and healed, but they did not truly submit themselves to Him! Even many of the Lord’s disciples left Him when His teaching was not in tune with their self-will and self-interest! That is why the Lord Jesus confirmed twice that no man can come to Him with true submission if His Father does not draw him (John 6:44; 65). Sadly, many churches today do not see this truth, and still believe they can attract people to the Lord through miracles and entertainments. In actual fact, they only attract many goats, not sheep, to their churches!
