PROMISES OF GOD

SEPTEMBER 5

2 Corinthians 1:18-20

                            PROMISES OF GOD

Have you ever broken a promise? You may have promised your mum and dad that you’ll never do something again but the next time, you again do what you promised not to do. Are you going to die for breaking your promise? Your mum and dad have let you off instead of punishing you. Have you ever forgotten a promise that you have made? Have you been unable to keep a promise? Perhaps something unexpected had happened.

The Bible tells us that God is true and trustworthy. Ths is what God is. God never breaks a promise or forgets a promise. God had promised Abram that he would have many descendents like the sand on the beach and stars in the sky. It did not seem possible as Abram’s wife Sarai was barren. They had both waited for a long time but still Sarai could not conceive. One day, God told Abram that He had not forgotten His promise, and in His time He would fulfill it. God repeated His promise to Abram. He had Abram walk through the land that would be occupied by his descendents. God said He would make Abram’s off spring to be as populous as the dust of the earth. Abram must be patient. Did Abram have many off spring who would occupy the land lled with God’s enemies? Yes. God’s promises are yes and amen!

One of God’s greatest promises is found in the book of Acts.

Whoever you are and wherever you come from, cry out to God for forgiveness and mercy, and you will be saved. Jesus washed away our sins when He died on the cross. We should be punished for our sins but He sacrificed Himself by dying in our place. God never breaks a promise. If you call out to God in the name of Jesus, you will be saved – saved from sin, saved from Satan’s ways to deceive us and saved from eternal hell fire. After receiving Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, tell others about your best and true Friend.

Thought: What is God’s promise to anyone who will call out to Him in the name of Jesus?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that You are true and trustworthy. You are the God of promises and are faithful in keeping them. Help me know the Bible and the promises inside it and never to doubt You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
