2 Corinthians 5:18
RECONCILED TO GOD
Reconciliation is a big word. Do you know what it means? If someone breaks your toy, you would be angry with him. If he says he is sorry, then you would forgive him and play happily with him. When that happens, we say that you have been reconciled to him.
Imagine that even after you have forgiven him and are happy with him, he is upset with you, even though you are the one that has been hurt. This is what God faces every day from non-Christians.
God can and should punish us for the sins that we have done. But Jesus came and died for us so God is no longer angry us. God is ready to be reconciled with anyone who receives Jesus as his or her Lord and Saviour. The trouble is, world knows Him not. People are still disobedient and not on friendly terms with God even though God wants to forgive.
One who is not a Christian must admit that he or she has done many wrong things, and must ask God to forgive him for Jesus’ sake. By doing this, this person is on friendly terms with God, obeys God’s words and stops doing the wrong things. He loves God and is happy. He has become reconciled with God.
Are you reconciled with God? If not, ask God to forgive you of your sins and help you start obeying Him. Once you become reconciled with Him, you will be a happy child.
Here’s a song to sing:
Since Jesus came into my heart,
Since Jesus came into my heart,
Floods of joy o’ver my soul like sea billows roll, Since Jesus came into my heart.
Thought: What does being reconciled with someone mean?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that You sent Jesus to come into the world to die to save us from our sins and to reconcile us with You. This is Your love for us. Forgive my wrongdoings and help me to love You with all my heart. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
