2 Corinthians 12:7-10
JESUS GIVES ME STRENGTH
The “I-can’t-do–it” mentality is common in many people, even Christians. Some Christians don’t depend on God, but on themselves, and are therefore weak.
“I can’t do it. I just can’t do it,” said Don as he walked into the house. He kicked the waster paper basket that was in his way. Dad heard him and asked, “What can’t you do?”
“I wanted to make room in the backyard by moving that big stone so that I could cycle around but it won’t move. It is too heavy,” answered Don. Dad thought it was no big deal and Don did not have to make such a hullabaloo. Dad gently said, “Well, maybe we can move it together. I’ll help you.” Father and son went outside, and with his dad’s help, Don moved the stone easily.
There are many things we cannot do by ourselves. We often say, “We can’t do it.” But the apostle Paul said,
“I can do __________ (LLA) things through __________ (HISCTR) which ____________________ (EEESTTTNNHHRG) me.”
(Philippians 4:13).
With Jesus’ help, we can do anything. Isn’t it good to have Jesus as a Friend and Helper?
When there are things He does not want us to do, He won’t help us. When you are having a test and you don’t know the answers to the questions, do you think that Jesus will help you copy your classmate’s answer sheet? Of course, not.
Jesus helps us do the things that are right and pleasing to God. He makes us strong even though we are very weak.
Have you been in a race? Feeling nervous? Pray. After that, you feel light when running. You may not win the race but you know Jesus has helped you. Everything is possible for him who believes.
Thought: Why is Jesus able to help us do anything that God wants?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is our Friend and Helper. With the strength He gives, I can do anything. Please make me depend on Jesus more, and not on myself. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
