SEPTEMBER 11, Ephesians 1:13-14

Seeing that countless millions are going to be welcomed into the final glory, is it possible that God might overlook me? Surely NOT! None of God’s people will be forgotten. When someone you love has died, you will mourn. After some time, you may not remember that person so clearly. However, God’s children are never forgotten. We never have to fear that God will forget us because our entrance to heaven is secured. We have the passport to enter heaven. Every believer is guaranteed.

Something wonderful happens to each Christian the moment he believes. God puts a mark on him. Paul says in verse 13, “ye were _ _ _ _ _ _.” When Paul said this, the Ephesians understood well. The seaport at Ephesus was very busy; many ships carrying cargos came into the city. Cargos belonging to different merchants were marked differently; this was to tell apart which cargos belonged to which merchants. As countries have their flags, every merchant then had his own distinctive sign or seal. As Christians, we have been sealed. Having believed, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. We receive the Holy Spirit the moment we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. God gives the Holy Spirit and He dwells inside us. The fact that He lives inside us is proof we belong to God!

This is the role of the Holy Spirit. At the moment of believing, He is given to us. We are in Christ, we are given the Spirit. It is to show that all that have been promised by God will surely be ours. In fact, we are the possession that God has purchased. The Lord will return for us and take us home. When we are sealed with the Holy Spirit, it signifies we belong to God and guarantees us of our inheritance. Are you God’s child? Are you God’s possession? Do you have the Holy Spirit inside you?

If you are being asked if you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit, it is the same as being asked if you are a                                          (EEEIRVBL). A Christian is guaranteed of his final entrance into the future inheritance which is heaven, living with Christ forever.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sealing me with the Holy Spirit when I received the Lord Jesus Christ. With the seal, You have guaranteed my future inheritance – life in heaven. Thank You for all spiritual blessings in Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
