PUNISHMENT FOR SIN
The book of Judges begins with the account of the children of Israel sinning against the Lord once again. They suffered under the oppression (control) of the Midianites, Amalekites, and the peoples from the desert in the east. For seven years, their enemies destroyed or robbed them of crops they had planted. Some of the children of Israel tried to hide in the mountains. There was no food for either the people or their animals. The Israelites were in such a terrible state, that they cried to the Lord for help.
When God’s people obey Him, they will be blessed. But when they sin, God will punish them. Dear reader, is this the case with you? Is there sin in your life? How about secret sins that no one knows? How has this affected your relationship with God? Do you feel guilty about some secret sin? Be sure, there is nothing you can hide from Him. God hates sin and He will definitely send punishment. Sometimes God does not punish us immediately, so we get complacent. But dear child, be careful.
Or is God a stranger to you? Why? One day, God will judge all nonbelievers and by then it’d be too late to repent. Will you not confess your sins and accept His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour today?

Prayer (if saved): Heavenly Father, help me live a life pleasing to You, so I will enjoy your blessings, and not suffer Your punishment. I ask for strength as it is not easy to press on in my spiritual walk. This is my prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.
