GREATEST GIFT @ CHRISTMAS!
DECEMBER 25

Luke 2:8-11

GREATEST GIFT @ CHRISTMAS!

Singapore is a shoppers’ paradise. Especially when Christmas is round the corner, shopping can reach dizzy heights. Many shopping malls, especially those along Orchard Road, focus on Christmas sales as those would be major events for them.

The last weekend before Christmas is usually the busiest; you get everybody rushing to buy their last minute gifts. Do you buy Christmas gifts too? It’s nice to buy gifts for loved ones to show our appreciation. Especially for mummy and daddy – make sure you buy or better still, make them a gift!

In the buying frenzy over Christmas, sometimes we forget that the greatest gift has already been given. What is that greatest gift? It is the Lord Jesus!

Thanks to the many misleading images on Christmas cards or advertisements, many of us tend to think that Jesus was born in a beautiful manger with sparkling clean surroundings. Have you been to a manger? What is a manger? It is where animals feed and live. And those of us who keep pets know animals are usually not clean. In fact, mangers are usually very dirty and stinky. And yet, God the Father allowed His Son Jesus to be born in that sort of an environment. More than that, Jesus was given to us so that He may eventually suffered on the cross and die for our sins.

For God to give us His only begotten Son as a baby boy is the greatest sacrifice. For us, that present is the greatest of all gifts.

Thought: Jesus Christ – the greatest gift of all!
Prayer: Thank You, heavenly Father for sending Jesus to come to earth. May I not be found with the rest of the world in partying and feasting, but may I remember that it is for our sins that Your Son was sent. This I pray in His precious name. Amen.
