BOXING DAY!

DECEMBER 26

Isaiah 9:6

BOXING DAY!

Today, the 26th of December, is often called "Boxing Day". The exact origin of the term "boxing" is unclear and there are several competing theories. One has it that in the past, there were boxes that collected money and other gifts for those who were needy. Another theory is that since presents were exchanged or given during Christmas, this was the day to open the boxes. Hence, the word "boxing".

Most people forget Christmas was for us to remember the birth of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus. Also, why did He come as a baby? Read this poem and find out more…

As a baby Jesus came, From His home above
He left His throne and who He was, To teach us how to love
As a baby Jesus came, To one day grow to be
The Saviour of the human race, People like you and me
As a baby Jesus came, As God’s eternal light
That will never be extinguished, But forever shine out bright
As a baby Jesus came, The hope of eternal life
Reconciling us back to God, Giving meaning to our lives
As a man Jesus died, His blood poured out for all
Cleansing and forgiving us, For to this He was called

Dear child, there is nothing wrong with buying or opening gifts. Just remember the "birthday boy" – Jesus, and give Him your heart and devotion.

Thought: May I present myself as a gift to God!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gifts I have received. As I open them, I want to pray that I myself would be a gift to You, that I’d try to live a life that will please You. This is my humble request in Jesus’ name. Amen.
