DYING FOR CHRIST
 
The ultimate end of persecution is to kill the missionaries. History tells us that countless missionaries have died at the hands of the people whom they loved and to whom they preached Christ. There are stories of cruel persecution: missionaries being slaughtered, cooked and eaten by the locals. There are more gruesome experiences to recall but these must not discourage missionaries from bringing the good news of salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ to far-flung regions.
 
Sanctioned: Every evil intention against the servants of God is sanctioned by Satan. He uses people who will execute his wicked plans. The Jews in their envy and pride were made instruments to stone Paul to death. Even those who are supposed to be learned in the Scriptures can be moved by the Devil to vent his loathing against God’s people. Let us be watchful and prayerful not to be used of Satan to persecute believers because of our jealousy and arrogance.
 
Spared: Paul was deemed to have been dead but he was not. When God’s servant still has work to accomplish for Him, God will preserve him. The Lord has foreordained His words to be written and He secures His writers to live and pen His precious promises. Paul was spared not only to preach the gospel but also to write the living and life-giving Word of God. Let us trust God’s perfect plan, no one dies before God’s determined time and no one can extend his life even a second beyond His decree.
 
When we serve God, all of Satan’s minions are up and active to find ways and means to destroy us. But we must place our reliance in the all-powerful and loving God. Read Matthew 10:28-31.
 
Are you hiding when opposition comes for fear of your life? Do you think you have power to keep it for a minute? Please be reminded that your life is not in your hands, and no place on this earth can hide you from Him who truly controls your time on earth!
 
THOUGHT: Am I ready to die for the sake of my Lord and Saviour?

PRAYER: Father, let me have Thy approval of my plans and actions.
