JUNE 8, 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16, 19-20
The Thessalonian Christians were persecuted for their faith. But God supplied them with the necessary courage and grace to endure the suffering. Have you been teased by your classmates and friends for believing in Jesus? Does your family oppose your faith and threaten to disown you? Persecution could be in the form of hurtful words, threats, the breakdown of relationships, or it could even come in the form of physical aggression.
Dear child, if you are suffering because of your Christian faith, be assured that your experience is not new or isolated. Others have suffered before you (verse 1:6) and others are suffering with you. You’re in the good company of the Thessalonian Christians and many others who live for Christ.
In fact, the Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:12 - “Yea, and all that will live __________ in Christ Jesus shall __________ __________.”
To go through persecution because you are a Christian, is a sign that affirms you are living a godly life. Be not afraid, but stand firm, for Christ is with you all the way. He will not leave you alone.
Another means of help is the support of like-minded saints. That’s God’s way of encouraging His people and showing His love. No man is an island. Everyone needs friends, and more so good Christian friends who understand the spiritual trials that you go through. Don’t pass up on any opportunity to fellowship with brothers and sisters in-Christ!
Above all, the reason why the apostles, martyrs of the Reformation, and so many men, women and children were able to suffer persecution; and even die for their faith was because they desired heaven. Their eyes of faith looked past their present affliction to the certainty of a heavenly home with Jesus. Paul, who was greatly persecuted for the faith, testified –

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me not to give up when I encounter suffering caused by other people who persecute me for my faith in God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
