GOD WILL NOT LEAVE ME ALONE

APRIL 28, Matthew 28:20b

When Jesus was praying in Gethsemane, His disciples fell asleep. He prayed alone. As he was carrying the heavy wooden cross to Calvary, His disciples abandoned Him. Their faith was weak and they were fearful. Jesus was nailed on the cross, bearing pain and shame. Did Jesus feel lonely then? He felt forsaken.

There may be times when you are deserted by friends. It may happen because you want to obey God and take a stand for Him. Suppose you become a school prefect and your duty is to take down the names of latecomers and breakers of school rules. You may even have to take down the names of some of your close friends. Being a good Christian, you need to be honest and carry out your duties faithfully. But, you may begin to find your friends giving you the cold shoulder and not being as friendly with you as they used to be. They may shut you out of their games and conversation.

We feel lonely because there is no one to talk to, discuss schoolwork or play games with. Well, cheer up. Jesus has promised, “I will be with you alway.” He is always near you to hear your prayer. Remember – God is always available to you – just go to Him in prayer!

Thought: God is always just a prayer away!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise that You will always stand by me hearing my every prayer. Sometimes I do feel lonely, so teach me heavenly Father to always turn to You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
