APRIL 6, 2 Peter 1:4
Remember Darren’s mother who has promised him a trip to Disney World if he were to do well in his PSLE? Compared to a trip to Sentosa or an ice-cream at Swenson’s, that was a great promise. While many parents cannot afford to promise their children such a costly vacation, they will give them the best things they can afford. To some of us, a trip to Sentosa is great enough and that is the right way to view rewards from parents.
Now, the Bible says that God’s promises are not just great but exceedingly great! He is taking us to a place much better than any wonderful destination on earth! He is taking us to Heaven! Can you think of a greater promise than this? Why are God’s promises exceedingly great?
Our God is great! He is omnipotent. That means he has power over everything. Nothing is impossible for God to do. God is omniscient. That means He knows everything from beginning to end. God knows even your thoughts, be they past, present or future. God is omnipresent or everywhere all the time. God is supreme in glory and His promises are great in power and wisdom.
Thought: Only God has the power to make such great promises in the Bible.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your great promises to save me and keep me from all sin and shame. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
