APRIL 14, Psalm 4:8
David wrote Psalm 4 when he was a fugitive in the wilderness. For years, he had been running away from King Saul who wanted to kill him. King Saul felt threatened because God had chosen David to be the next king. How disturbing it would have been to have an army hot in pursuit of you. Will you be able to sleep well when you know someone wants to harm you?
Yet, David enjoyed peaceful sleep out in the open. How could he sleep so soundly when he was such an easy target of harm? It is an open secret - he has confidence in God’s protection! If God had said he would be made the next king, he knew for sure he would be protected for a dead man cannot be king!
Sleep is a gift from God. We learn it from Psalm 127:2, “...He giveth his beloved sleep.” The next time you toss and turn in bed because you’re afraid or worried about something, take God at His word. Hand your fears and problems over to God and exchange them for a peaceful sleep.
Who is sleeping more soundly and peacefully? ________________

Thought: God gives His beloved sleep, and I am one of His beloved!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me a good sleep every night, If I am worried and cannot rest well at night, please take my worries away and let my mind rest on Your promises. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
