JUNE 18, 1 Thessalonians 4:18
What do you do when you need comfort? Some turn to friends, some to the Internet, some to no one. Christians are to turn to God, of course. But in today’s text, we are taught that Christians are to comfort each other.
And what does the text tell us to comfort others with? The words of God!
Dear child, you and I would perhaps not know how wonderful the words of God are until we reach heaven and God shows the entire splendour and power of His words. But until then, let us do what God says, comfort each other with the words of the Bible.
With your friends, do you comfort each other? Or do you irritate each other?
Sometimes we think that being young, we are not in a position to comfort friends. That is not true. As long as you are close to God and have His words, share his words with others.
But to be able to share from the Bible would mean you have to first read the Bible yourself and be fairly familiar with it. You don’t have to know it as much as your pastor or Sunday School teacher does, but you do have to be faithful in your QT and Bible study!

Thought: May I comfort others with God’s Word.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for today’s text that reminds me to help others, and to do so not with my own words but with words from the Bible. Help me to also be diligent in reading the Bible so I’d know more of it to use when I need to comfort others. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
