JUNE 26, 2 Thessalonians 1:2
How many girls with the name “Grace” do you know? Surely quite a few! “Grace” is a wonderful name for girls and that is why many parents choose it for their daughters. But what does “grace” mean? Some parents may want their daughters to be graceful and beautiful, and therefore give them that name. But is there a deeper meaning to that word? Of course. For Christians, grace is the pillar of their faith for without the grace of God, none of us would have the opportunity to know Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour.
Grace may be defined as gifts or wonderful things God gives us, although we do not deserve them. Some of you are more intelligent than others; others excel in games; some of you can draw well; some of you are gifted in languages; some can tell stories well. The list goes on. All these are gifts from God – grace from the Lord. But the most wonderful example of grace of God has not yet been mentioned. What is the most wonderful example of grace of God? It is the gift of Jesus Christ from God the Heavenly Father!
Most of you would look forward to Christmas. Many of you would get gifts from friends and family. It is wonderful to receive gifts, is it not? But the greatest gift of all is the baby Jesus Himself. At Christmas, it is a time of rejoicing for Christmas reminds us that Jesus was given as a gift to all of us. That is true grace in its purest form.
Dear child, what is even more wonderful is that on top of the gift of Jesus, God also gave us other gifts. That is grace. Use whatever gifts God has given you to bless others. If your gift is kept for selfish purposes, God would not be pleased.
If you are good in your studies, help someone who is weak in that area. If you can play musical instruments, help out or volunteer in JW or school to bless others. In the use of these gifts, remember it is God who gave You so that you’d not be tempted to be proud in any way.
Thought: Thank you Lord for grace!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful gifts and blessings I’ve received. May I remember You are the Giver, and use them for Your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
