OCTOBER 16, Genesis 41:47-49

In accordance with his plan, Joseph gathered food during the seven years of abundant harvest.

For seven years, Joseph gathered and collected great quantities of grain into these storehouses that they were overflowing and could not be quantified.

In modern terms, we describe such an action as stockpiling. Most countries would have a stockpile of rice, for example, so that when prices go up, these reserves of rice can be released to meet the demand and prices need not escalate. Joseph was so advanced in his thinking that he knew how to practise stockpiling thousands of years before. He was wise to prepare for the future.

The Bible says that this earth will pass away one day. So, have you thought about the future home for your soul? Will it be in heaven? Let us be prepared for the future by putting our trust in our Creator God now. Believe in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and tell others how to secure a future home for their souls.

Thought: I can trust God to secure my future. There is nothing to fear. Meanwhile I can lay up treasure in heaven by doing what God wants me to do with whatever He has given me.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, teach me not to waste time, food and money. Help me to spend and use what you have provided for me now wisely. Thank you for preparing a heavenly home for me, heavenly Father. I pray that many more will come to believe in Jesus so that they will be saved from going to hell and their future will also be secured in heaven. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
