DECEMBER 26, Isaiah 9:6

Today, the 26th of December, is often called “Boxing Day”. The exact origin of the term “boxing” is unclear and there are several competing theories. One has it that in the past, there were boxes that collected money and other gifts for those who were needy. Another theory is that since presents were exchanged or given during Christmas, this was the day to open the boxes. Hence, the word “boxing”.

Most people forget Christmas was for us to remember the birth of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus. Also, why He came to this earth? Well, it is because of God’s love for sinners like you and I. God the Father sent His Son the Lord Jesus to save us from our sins. The Lord Jesus Christ live a perfect life on this earth. He died and rose on the third day and now sits at the right hand of God the Father. If you confess yourself as a sinner, repent of your sins and personally accept the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you will be saved. Dear child, have you accepted the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?

Dear child, there is nothing wrong with buying or opening gifts. Just remember the the birth of Jesus, and give Him your heart and devotion.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, even though I have received gifts this Christmas, help me to remember that there is no better gift than the gift of Jesus my Saviour which you have so freely and graciously given to me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
