OCTOBER 12, Genesis 25:25-34
Jacob was the younger twin brother of Esau. Jacob’s name means “usurper” in Hebrew. After Esau was born, Jacob followed very soon after, with his hand holding onto Esau’s heel. Later in life, Jacob under the influence of his mother Rebekah, committed a sin to deceive his father, Isaac after learning that his father planned to give his spiritual and inheritance blessing to Esau. Jacob disguised himself as his brother Esau and received the blessing from his father. Isaac may have gone against God’s will by wanting to bless Esau. However, it is not right for Rebekah and Jacob to take matters into their hands, to deceive Isaac for the intended blessings. We learnt later in the Bible that all three of them were punished for their sins.
God will always punish sin, sooner or later. Have your sins been forgiven? Come to the Lord Jesus now. Tomorrow may be too late!
