WHAT IS THE GREAT WHITE THRONE?

Dec 3

Revelation 20:11-15
Memorise Hebrews 9:27
“it is appointed unto men once to die”

The Bible tells us that there is a final reckoning at the end of the Millennium. In Revelation 20, it is called the judgment of the Great  White Throne. The Great White Throne Judgement is the final place of judgement for all believers and unbelievers. Hebrews 9:27  says, “And   as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”.  The word “men” refers to both believers and unbelievers. Judgement will be upon both believers and unbelievers. Every man will have to face his Creator after he dies and be judged for what he has done on earth. The place of this judgement is the judgement seat of Christ, also known in theological circles as the Bema Judgement (Romans 14:10; 2 Corinthians 5:10). The Bema judgement and the Great White Throne are one and the same. The former describes the place and the latter describes the name of the judgment.

The Judge at the Great White throne is none other than the Lord Jesus, the Son of God. John 5:22-23 says, “For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.”

The Great White Throne Judgement will be the final judgement for man, for after this there will be no more judgements needed. At this Great White Throne Judgement, everyone will be in a state of resurrection. Believers will stand before God in the glorified body. Unbelievers will also be resurrected, delivered out of Hell and will stand before God. Judgment will be meted out.

Thought: “The wicked are incapable of profiting by the judgments of God” (Calvin).
Prayer: O God, I want to be saved from the judgment to come
